We like to think of fitness, weight loss, healthy living whatever you want to call it, as a way of life, something you enjoy (most of the time), and something that adds a massive benefit to your life. It’s simple really, the fitter, more healthier version of you is by far the happiest in the long run. Let’s presume that you already have your structured workouts in place, your boot camps, home PT sessions, for example. They keep you going, and give you a big boost every week. But what about your daily habits, are they pushing you on the health and fitness path? Daily habits like, taking the stairs, walking an extra stop on the tube, walking to lunch, borrowing a dog and walking that. There are so many opportunities in your day where you could be active, raising your metabolism and burning calories. It’s the small things that add up, and over time you will have walked an extra 5-10K per week without really thinking about it.
Get on board with this plan for 4 weeks, buy a pedometer, or an app for your phone, and track your steps. Each week, beat your previous weeks steps. Top tips: Take a walking meeting in your local park. Get out of the office, don’t sit at your desk all day, get out, get some fresh air and see your productivity go through the roof. The facts: walking for an extra 1 hour per day can burn between 200-400 calories depending on your weight, speed, height etc. 25/5 Rule: Work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break, of walking, drinking water, standing up, get off your chair! Summary: It’s the small things in life that adds up and makes a difference. Make the change today and be healthier in every aspect of your life. Walk yourself fit! Are personal trainers worth the price?
Fed up with her gym membership going to waste, Laura Roberts decides it's time to try a personal trainer From now till the day of the race I will post information, training tips, nutritional tips and much more to get you ready for the big day. Running: The race is 10km so depending on your fitness levels I would recommend to run 5km twice a week at least 2 to 4 weeks prior to the race, this would allow efficient time, recovery & adaption for running a 5km. You can progress to a 7km run and eventually a 10km run but to be honest a 5km will suffice, for those of you that have never run a 10km don't worry because when you have obstacles in between and the experience of the atmosphere your adrenaline gets pumping and that will push you through more than know!!! Resistance training: To combat each obstacle it's all about your body's ability to overcome it, so what better training than body weight training! That's exactly what we do in our bootcamps from squats, lunges, presses, pulls, crawling, jumping and loads more to increase your strength & stamina in moving your body with ease, so keep up with your bootcamps. Personally I would recommend once to twice a week because I'm sure many have a busy schedule but if you can do more then better! By the way there is a reward at the end of the race not only the feeling of accomplishment for completing it but they have a massive beer garden so when we've all finished we can enjoy a good (well deserved) pint of beer together! Right guys lets get training for it. Michael Bootcamp instructor & Head Personal Trainer Monkey bars to climb across, scrapped cars to run through, crawling through mud under barbed wire, firemen hosing you down with extinguishers and loads more obstacles to tackle!!! This is what you've signed up for or are thinking of signing up too. Either way welcome on board the SW Fitness team for the Men's Health survival of the fittest!!!
You can still enjoy your favourite cocktail this year without falling off the wagon. These amazing new recipes are packed with antioxidant rich ingredients which will leave you feeling really very smug. Ditch the wine and beer, here's to the new wave of healthy drinking Of course don't go crazy, if you are trying to lose weight, alcohol will slow your results, so go for the non alcoholic versions.
