It's the million £ question, we as trainers get asked all the time: what's best for losing weight, weights, or cardio? Ask the man in the street, cardio will be the answer. Ask any trainer, the opposite is true.
My opinion? From a technical point of view, yes Weights are better for muscle definition, and the post session calorie burn and metabolic effects, but this doesn't mean there isn't a place for cardio training.

On a weekend that storms were set to hit London town, I was off to review Wireless Bootcamp with Sam Warrington Fitness on Clapham Common, the latest craze to hit the city! This 45 minute outdoor workout is very different from anything I’ve ever experienced before as you wear super cool headphones which allow you to listen to booming tracks even though you’re outside & you hear all of the instructions through them too – pretty cool huh?! There’s no crazy instructor shouting at you across the field & it basically allows you to completely get in your own little zone without any distractions. The music really spurred me on, motivating me the whole way through and I’m not going to lie – I got very excited as you will see in the video! You have your own volume control on the headphones & you can work at your own pace, making it suitable for people of all fitness levels!
As we say goodbye to Georgina who is on maternity leave from 1st October, we welcome a brand new trainer Jen! Some of you have already met here, she has been shadowing Georgina for the last few sessions. She is full of energy, motivating and is really excited to get to know you all. Give her a great welcome and train hard for her!
Don't despair, you can still have your BBQ and eat it. Just think slightly outside the norm, and make our BBQ the best in town. Spice things up with marinated chicken, mushroom burgers, seafood parcels, and roasted veg. It will be just as tasty, and way more healthy.
Check out our top websites below for some inspiration. Share on our facebook page your creations! http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/seasonal/bbq/low-fat-and-healthy-bbq http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/collection/barbecue http://allrecipes.com/recipes/healthy-recipes/main-dishes/bbq--grilling/ If however you commit 100%, and follow the programme, then it's a guarantee you will get results. Of course everyone has a different idea of what 'results' mean, but generally its along the lines of losing around a stone in weight, toning up, and having a massive energy boost. You see, out of everyone I have ever trained (it's a lot), not everyone get's results. It's not because I'm a bad trainer, it's because they weren't ready to make the changes and to commit to a new fitter life. So I urge you now, if you want to see some results, before you get in touch, ask yourself one simple question, "Will I allow myself to get results". If you aren't willing to change, don't worry, that's fine, carry on as you are. If you do want to get in amazing shape, fit into your old clothes and feel incredible, then we should talk. "Will I get results?"
My answer is simple, if you carry on as your are now, then no. You will probably follow a few failed diets, and un structured training, and may even put on more weight. |
