Excuse No.1 - "I enjoy it"
No you don't. Ok you may think you do, and in moderation, the odd bit of naughty food may bring a rush of endorphins. If however, you are overweight, or just not in the shape you want to be, the after feelings of junk food are so much worse, and out weigh the balance. The few moments of enjoying the junk food, are soon gone, and replaced with feelings of guilt, dread & failure. You're left feeling disheartened, and quite often blow the rest of your diet with a load more junk food.
Some people really go off the chart, and don't exercise, because they think "what the heck" I've blown it now.
Think past the initial 'enjoyment' factor, and remember how bad you actually felt last time.
When you switch it up, and you eat healthy foods, the feelings of pride, and achievement are incredible, and it spurs you onto even more healthy habits.
Excuse No. 2 - "I'm bored"
Boredom is dangerous, not just for eating the wrong foods, but over eating in general. Sat at your desk at work, someone puts a plate of cakes on the table in front of you, you're bored, so you're natural instinct will be to eat something which is fun, and exciting.
You never plan to eat out of boredom, it just happens, and before you know it, you've smashed the best part of that cookie dough ice cream.
Next time you're about to go neck deep into a birthday cake at work, do something that excites you other than eating, and you won't think about food for long. There's more to life than junk food!
Excuse No. 1 - "It's a Habit"
Chances are, you're good for most of the day. But, if you're like most of the people I work with, there's a recurring theme every day. A bad habit, which is tripping you up, and is causing you trouble. This one bad habit has a ripple effect, where you then go on to make even worse decisions, and more often than not, ruining your entire day.
If you're trying trying to lose weight, you need to consistently make new habits, whilst breaking old ones, so this is huge.
Spot the habit that's letting you down, then ask yourself, what can you do do erase this one habit. It could be snacking in the evening watching TV, how can you stop this? It could be picking up junk on your way home, do you change your route? You tell me, make it personal and figure out your habits!
Excuse No.4 - "I'm not Prepared"
You've heard it before, but failing to prepare is preparing to fail. It's so true when it comes to any sort of fitness, or health transformation. There's just too many temptations, adverts, friends dragging you to the pub, the list goes on. Unless your prepared, mentally and physically, you will las around 7 days before slipping up and forgetting you were even on a programme.
The trick is to not only get physically prepared, so pack your workout gear & plan your meals etc. But also prepare mentally. Looking ahead at your daily barriers, and obstacles, and preparing how you are going to overcome these, will be huge for you.
Make it your mission, to be ON IT. Don't let preparation be the thing that let's you down.
It's not easy to rid yourself of eating junk food, but it can be done. By simply not buying helps hugely, but I hope I have convinced you to think a little bit deeper than the first thought. Too many people choose what they want right now, for what they actually want long term. Don't fall into this trap, and get ready to say no to Junk food.
