I was chatting with one of my 1-1 clients today, we were talking about her first 90 days with us. She did the Lose 2 stone in 90 day programme (she smashed her goal by the way)
She actually sent me a pic a few weeks ago with her in a supermarket with 14 blocks of butter, which was the total of what she has lost!
Anyway, back to the story.
Her whole success so far has been down to the simple fact, the plan was built for the rest of her life in mind.
You see, any one can lose weight in a month, or a few weeks. But what happens the day after your programme finishes? Back to old habits, which take you back to where you started.
Any successful programme HAS to factor in life after the programme. The diet has to work in all aspects of your life. You have to enjoy the workouts you do. You have to essentially build a programme you would be happy to maintain forever.
If I had said this on day 1, she would have quit on day 2, because the changes we were making were so far from her reality, that she couldn't possibly imagine living like this for long, let alone enjoy it.
But we worked each week, keeping the bits that worked, dropping the things that don't, and moving forward.
Now, she finds comfort in the routine, the food, the workouts, and finds it all so easy.
The moral of this story? Just start. Adapt as you go, and have the life after the programme in mind.
